Read Across America Day

And I will read it in a house,
And I will read it with a mouse.
I’ll read my book all day and night.
For sure my future will be bright!

Today is Read Across America Day, a nationwide initiative of the National Education Association designed to spark children’s imaginations with books. In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, schools, libraries and individual families are pledging to teach our nation’s children both the fun and importance of reading.

What better occasion to break out your favorite Dr. Seuss classic and spend an evening reading with your child??? When you’re done, head over to Seussville to read up on this beloved author. You can learn the proper way to pronounce is last name (hint – it’s not “Soose”) and find out what other names he used to pen tales. Kids can also play games, create their own Who and interact with their favorite Dr. Seuss characters.

If you’re looking to make it a Seuss-themed weekend, the Dr. Seuss classic The Lorax debuted today on the big screen and you can check it out in theaters now!
